Pet of the Month! Woody!

Woody is a nearly 5 year old Pug x Pekingese that we have been treating since July 2021.
Woody has Atopy which is a problem with the immune system that means he is more likely to develop allergic diseases. He currently receives Artuvetrin therapy* which is given on a monthly basis in the practice as well as being treated with Apoquel tablets. Woody is a real character that we all love to see!
*Artuvetrin® Therapy works by giving very small amounts of the allergens that your pet is allergic to beneath the skin (subcutaneous injection) in increasing amounts till reaching a maintenance dose. The goal is to make your pet’s immune system less sensitive or not sensitive at all to those allergens. As a result, the allergic reaction and symptoms will decrease or disappear.

We asked Woody’s owners a few questions about him!

1.     What is Woody's favourite thing to do?

Woody loves long walks in the park and making new friends.

Woodybear, Woodster darling baby boy

3.     What do you enjoy the most about Woody?

What’s not to love about this handsome fur ball?!

4. How did you first notice Woody was unwell?

From the moment that we met him, he had constant ear infections and itchiness. He had endured surgery and numerous medications by the time he was one year old.

5. Did you research further into his diagnosis?

Yes, our previous vet was not much use so we took it upon ourselves to try to learn more about his condition and how we could help him. By moving to James Horner Vets, Woody has received outstanding care and treatment tailored for him.

6. What advice would you give to others?

Follow your heart and always get a second opinion if you feel your pet is suffering.

7. How has the Gold Wellness Subscription helped you?

Massively. Woody is a regular visitor and without the subscription we would struggle to finance his appointment costs, let alone pay for the treatment that he needs.
