Microchipping

ALWAYS REMEMBER TO UPDATE YOUR MICROCHIP DETAILS IF YOU MOVE HOUSE

Microchipping your pet is strongly recommended for cats and a legal requirement for dogs.  If your loved pet ever goes missing, having a microchip registered to your home and number gives everyone in the animal world the best chance to help reunite you both.

How can it help?

The microchip is a small device about the size of a grain of rice and sits just under your pet’s skin. On it is a unique identification number that can only be read with a microchip scanner. This unique code is linked to a secure database that is only accessible by registered organisations, such as veterinary surgeries and the police, where your contact details are kept. This means that we can contact you should your pet be brought into us.

Once implanted, your pet won’t be able to feel the microchip and it sits comfortably for your entire pet’s life. On rare occasions the microchip may fail and because of this, we always check the chip whenever we see you and your pet.

HOW LONG DOES THE TREATMENT TAKE?

The microchip can be inserted very quickly. We can do it at their first vaccination, or for cats, during their neutering surgery. If you only want a microchip then our nurses can insert a microchip without needing to see a vet.

HOW MANY VISITS ARE REQUIRED

One visit is required to implant the microchip.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

£16.80
