Cat & Dog Vaccinations

As with humans, vaccinations are essential to ensure your pet remains healthy. Boosting your pet’s immune system against dangerous diseases protects them from illnesses which could be fatal.

All pets are given a full examination to make sure they are sufficiently healthy prior to any vaccination being given.

For more specific information relating to dog and cat boosters please visit the relevant advice page, or give us a call.

How can it help?

Vaccinations are essential to ensuring an immune system is best primed to fight any disease. Along with vaccinations, a regular check-up is an essential part of keeping your pet healthy. The full health check seeks to look for anything of concern and ensure our pets are in as good a health as possible before giving their vaccination.

What conditions does it help with?

A vaccination covers specific diseases that differ between cats and dogs. See our Cat Advice and Dog Advice pages for more information.

A “nose to tail examination” includes:

  • Ears, eyes and mouth, including the teeth.

  • The chest will be listened to (auscultated), to detect any irregularities in the lungs or heart.

  • The abdominal cavity will be palpated to feel for changes in the organs such as the liver or bladder.

  • The limbs will be checked, including lymph nodes, and the joints, for any indication of arthritis.

  • The skin will be checked looking for external parasites, to examine the level of hydration, and other changes.

  • The entire body will be felt over and examined for irregularities or growths.

  • Any particular areas of concern you have related to your pet’s health will be examined and discussed.

HOW LONG DOES THE TREATMENT TAKE?

A health check and vaccination visit will take 15 minutes.

HOW MANY VISITS ARE REQUIRED

For a puppy, or kitten, vaccination course three visits are required. For annual boosters only one visit is usually needed. If you have lapsed in your vaccination cover then generally two visits are required.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

For details see the Price List or advice page on vaccinations for your chosen species.
